Mumbai Metro 3 Nears Launch

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation shared a sneak peek of the newly completed Acharya Atre Chowk station on Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) this Sunday, drawing both praise and impatience from the public. Located on the 9.77 km stretch between Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and Worli, the underground station is part of a long-anticipated corridor that promises to ease traffic and boost east-west connectivity.

The social media update, posted by the handle @MumbaiMetro3, featured images of the station’s sleek new interiors. But the post quickly sparked a flurry of comments, with several users demanding clarity on the launch date instead of visuals. “Don’t show the first look, give us the date,” wrote one user, voicing frustration over delays. Others, however, commended the engineering efforts behind the metro build.

Final Inspections Underway The wait may soon be over. The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) recently commenced final safety inspections of the stretch. This critical evaluation covers everything from civil infrastructure and electrical systems to emergency protocols.

Once the CMRS gives its green signal, the BKC–Acharya Atre Chowk section will be cleared for commercial operations — marking a major step forward in Mumbai's evolving metro network.

Mumbai Metro Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line, is the city’s first fully underground corridor and is being developed to ease pressure on suburban rail and road networks, especially between central business hubs like BKC and Worli.
