Indian Navy Inducts 10th ACTCM Barge LSAM 24 at Mumbai Dockyard

The Indian Navy marked a significant milestone with the induction of the 10th Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile (ACTCM) Barge, LSAM 24 (Yard 134), at a ceremony held on 22 April 2025 at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. Commodore AKK Reddy, AGM (PR), ND (Mumbai), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

This induction is part of an 11-barge contract awarded to M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane—an MSME shipyard—on 5 March 2021. The barges have been indigenously designed in collaboration with an Indian ship design firm and have successfully undergone model testing at the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory, Visakhapatnam, to validate their seaworthiness.

The ACTCM Barges are constructed in adherence to the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) Naval Rules and Regulations and stand as robust examples of the Government of India’s “Make in India” and “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives. With nine barges already delivered, this latest addition further strengthens the Navy’s logistics infrastructure.

The shipyard has also secured a contract to construct four Sullage Barges, reaffirming the Indian Navy’s ongoing support for MSMEs and indigenous manufacturing.

The induction of the ACTCM Barges enhances the Navy’s ability to efficiently transport, embark, and disembark critical stores and ammunition to naval platforms both dockside and at sea, ensuring operational readiness and logistical sustainability.
