DDA Approves Rs 87.2 Billion Budget for 2025-26

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has approved a budget of Rs 87.2 billion for the financial year 2025-26, with a strong emphasis on civic infrastructure development, green space rejuvenation, housing, and sports facilities, according to an official statement.

Chaired by Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, the budget meeting highlighted several large-scale projects, including the revitalisation of the Yamuna floodplain, creation of expansive parks, and upgraded civic amenities. Out of the total outlay, Rs 41.4 billion has been earmarked for capital expenditure, covering new roads, infrastructure works, park upgrades, and road reconstruction to improve air quality.

Riverfront, Parks, and Green Spaces The DDA allocated Rs 820 million for ongoing Yamuna riverfront projects, including Asita East, Baansera, and Vasudev Ghat. Additionally, Rs 1 billion has been set aside for the construction of Bharat Vandana Park in Dwarka’s Sector 20.

To enhance green cover, Rs 2.04 billion will go towards upgrading parks citywide, with a separate Rs 190 million earmarked for redeveloping four historic parks behind the Red Fort — Dilli Chalo Park, Ghata Masjid Park, Sadhbhavna Park, and Urdu Academy Park.

Urban Transport and Housing The authority has approved Rs 750 million for the Delhi Metro Phase IV project and Rs 380 million for building multilevel car parks at Nehru Place and Bhikaji Cama Place.

In the housing sector, Rs 5.8 billion is allocated for ongoing projects, with an additional Rs 2.63 billion designated for the construction of 1,026 two-BHK apartments in Karkardooma under Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) norms.

Sports Infrastructure and Revenue Model To bolster sports infrastructure, Rs 2.5 billion will go toward setting up five new sports complexes, including three in Dwarka, one in Rohini, and one at the Dwarka Golf Course.

The DDA also proposed rolling out key projects on a licence fee model, seen as a sustainable revenue approach. These include plans for hotels in Dwarka and Nehru Place, a hospital in Dwarka, a multi-integrated stadium in Rohini and Narela, corporate offices, and a Gol Souk at Dwarka.

Land Use Change for MCD Staff Quarters In a key land use decision, the DDA approved a land use change from 'recreational (district park)' to 'residential' for a 1.41-hectare plot at Minto Road, facilitating the construction of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) staff quarters.

The approved budget reflects DDA’s continued push for sustainable urban development, enhanced public amenities, and better living conditions across the capital.
