Viksit Vibrant Villages Programme to Empower Border Communities in May

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, will launch the Viksit Vibrant Villages Program from fifteenth to thirtieth May 2025, focusing on remote border regions of Leh-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The initiative will engage five hundred MY Bharat volunteers from across India, working directly with communities in one hundred selected villages. Volunteers will support educational, healthcare, infrastructure, and cultural projects, driving sustainable development and youth leadership at the grassroots level.

Registration for the program began on twenty-third April 2025 through the MY Bharat Portal. Ten volunteers will be selected from Union Territories and fifteen from each participating state. An orientation program in Delhi will prepare the selected volunteers for effective engagement with local communities.

Over seven days, activities will span community engagement, youth leadership development, cultural promotion, healthcare awareness, skill-building, environmental best practices, and fitness initiatives. Special programmes like open mic sessions and career counselling will foster national consciousness and document the rich heritage of border regions.

The initiative seeks to redefine border villages from isolated outposts to vibrant cultural centres, building national pride and unity through direct youth participation.
