Aadhaar Authentications Cross 27 Billion in FY25

Aadhaar authentication transactions surged past 27.07 billion in FY 2024–25, including 2.47 billion in March alone, reflecting its growing adoption across sectors such as banking, finance, telecom, and public service delivery. Since its inception, the cumulative number of Aadhaar authentication transactions has exceeded 148 billion.
The Unique Identification Authority of India’s (UIDAI) AI/ML-based face authentication technology is also witnessing a sharp rise in usage. In March 2025 alone, over 150 million face authentication transactions were recorded. This biometric modality is now used by more than 100 government and private sector entities to ensure seamless delivery of services and benefits.
UIDAI was recently awarded the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration in the Innovation category for its face authentication solution, recognising the authority’s pioneering efforts in digital service delivery.
Aadhaar e-KYC services continue to enhance user experience and business ease, especially in the financial sector. In March 2025, 446.3 million e-KYC transactions were completed, marking a 6% year-on-year increase. As of March 31, 2025, the cumulative e-KYC transaction count reached 23.56 billion.
Additionally, over 2 million new Aadhaar numbers were generated and 19.1 million Aadhaar updates were processed in March 2025, indicating continued expansion and active engagement from Aadhaar number holders.
