Shree Cement Partners with RITES to Enhance Rail Infrastructure
2025-06-02

Shree Cement has entered into a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RITES, a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, to enhance the cement company's rail infrastructure network. This partnership aims to facilitate efficient and sustainable transportation of raw materials and finished products across Shree Cement’s manufacturing units.
According to the agreement, RITES will offer comprehensive services from the initial concept stage through to commissioning, focusing on upgrading, renovating, and establishing new rail connectivity. The company also noted that the agreement can be extended with mutual consent.
Neeraj Akhoury, Managing Director of Shree Cement, highlighted the importance of strengthening logistics and supply chain infrastructure as the company expands its manufacturing footprint across India. He described the collaboration with RITES as a strategic move toward creating a more efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable transportation system that supports growth while minimizing environmental impact. However, he did not disclose the number of projects planned under the MoU.
RITES will additionally assist Shree Cement in obtaining the necessary approvals from the Ministry of Railways and other relevant authorities for civil works, signaling and telecommunications, overhead electrification, and mechanical engineering components. The company will also support the contractor selection process by evaluating and certifying the eligibility of executing agencies during tendering.
Deepak Tripathi, Director Technical & Projects (Additional Charge) at RITES, expressed confidence in the company’s ability to deliver integrated and future-ready rail and transport engineering solutions that align with the shared business objectives of both organizations.
