PM Launches Projects Worth Rs 120 Billion in Bihar, Bengal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Bihar and West Bengal tomorrow to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development initiatives totalling over Rs 120 billion, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced.
In Motihari, Bihar, Modi will launch projects worth Rs 72 billion across rail, road, rural development, fisheries, and IT. A major highlight is the Rs 40.8 billion Darbhanga–Narkatiaganj rail doubling project. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate highway upgrades like the Parariya–Mohania four-lane road and the Sarwan–Chakai two-lane stretch, improving Jharkhand connectivity. In Patna and Darbhanga, new STPI software parks and an IT incubation centre will be launched.
Modi will also flag off four Amrit Bharat trains to Delhi and Lucknow, distribute Rs 4 billion to over 61,000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the DAY-NRLM scheme, and hand over 12,000 homes under PM Awas Yojana–Gramin. A further Rs 1.6 billion in housing assistance will be released.
In Durgapur, West Bengal, projects exceeding Rs 50 billion will be unveiled. This includes the BPCL City Gas project in Bankura and Purulia (Rs 19.5 billion), the Durgapur–Kolkata natural gas pipeline (Rs 11.9 billion), and pollution control upgrades at two thermal power plants (Rs 14.6 billion). The Purulia–Kotshila rail line doubling (Rs 3.9 billion) and new road over bridges at Topsi and Pandabeshwar will also be inaugurated.
The visit highlights major investments across infrastructure, energy, housing, and women-led development.
