2025-08-06

Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd. has been conferred the TOI Ecopreneur Honours 2025 by The Times of India Group, recognising the company’s longstanding leadership in sustainable agriculture, climate-resilient water management, and biodiversity conservation.
The accolade was presented to Mr Athang Jain, President of Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd., during a ceremony in New Delhi. The award specifically acknowledges the company’s integrated watershed development efforts across over 2,500 acres, encompassing soil conservation, afforestation, and the construction of rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge structures.
Jain Irrigation has empowered more than 10 million smallholder farmers in India and globally by promoting sustainable agricultural practices that enhance productivity while safeguarding environmental health. The company’s micro-irrigation systems have revolutionised resource usage by delivering water and nutrients directly to plant roots—conserving water, boosting yields, and preserving soil.
To date, Jain Irrigation’s technologies have:
- Saved 143 billion cubic metres of water
- Generated 26,395 GWh in energy savings
- Reduced 19 million tonnes of CO₂-equivalent emissions
Its infrastructure contributions include projects such as the Girna River Dam, which benefits over 1,200 farming families and supports 4,000 acres of agricultural land while improving rural connectivity. The company’s conservation zones now support over 800 species, including 21 near-threatened birds and animals such as the Woolly-necked Stork and European Roller.
In its ecological outreach, Jain Irrigation has distributed more than 75,000 seed balls and saplings across 22 villages, fostering a culture of environmental stewardship.
The TOI Ecopreneur Honours, a flagship initiative by The Times of India, celebrates businesses that deliver measurable environmental outcomes through innovation and accountability. Winners are selected via a rigorous process involving independent knowledge experts.
Rooted in principles of regenerative agriculture, nature-positive growth, and rural empowerment, Jain Irrigation continues to scale up impactful solutions to address both environmental and livelihood challenges. As climate pressures mount, the company remains committed to driving inclusive, green growth in Indian agriculture.
