Autodesk Launches Local Data Storage for India

Autodesk has announced the launch of localized data storage in India, enabling businesses and public sector organizations to store and manage project data within the country. This expansion, part of Autodesk’s global regional offerings, supports regulated sectors such as government, infrastructure, and utilities by meeting compliance requirements while ensuring enterprise-grade security, privacy, and data recoverability.

The move comes as Autodesk’s 2025 State of Design & Make report reveals that while digital transformation drives significant ROI in the architecture, engineering, construction, and operations (AECO) industries, 37 per cent of Indian organizations cite concerns over data security and trust in tools. With India now available as a primary storage location for Autodesk Docs, Autodesk BIM Collaborate, and Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro, AECO customers can collaborate securely in the cloud while maintaining regional data residency.

“India is at a pivotal moment in its digital transformation journey. Prioritizing data regionalization fosters trust, transparency, and seamless collaboration,” said Kamolika Peres Gupta, Vice President, India and SAARC, Autodesk. “This India-based storage offering will empower businesses and public institutions to leverage cloud-powered design and construction with global standards of data integrity and performance.”

The India expansion is supported by Amazon Web Services (AWS), leveraging its global infrastructure to ensure performance, scalability, and compliance. “By enabling customers to store data closer to where they operate, we’re addressing growing demand for data residency while helping accelerate digital transformation,” said Colin Lazier, Vice President of Databases at AWS.

India now joins the United States, European Union, Australia, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and Canada in Autodesk’s regional storage network. This follows the company’s June 2025 introduction of localized BIM solutions tailored for India’s smart, sustainable infrastructure goals.
