IFC, HDFC Capital Launch $1 Billion Fund For Green Housing

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and HDFC Capital Advisors have partnered to launch the $1 billion HDFC Capital DREAM (H-DREAM) Fund, aimed at financing green and affordable housing projects across India.
The fund will support developers in adopting environmentally sustainable construction practices while addressing the country’s housing shortage. It will focus on projects that meet strict green building standards, reduce carbon footprints, and improve energy efficiency.
HDFC Capital CEO Vipul Roongta said the initiative aligns with India’s climate goals and the government’s ‘Housing for All’ mission. IFC Regional Director for South Asia, Imad N. Fakhoury, emphasised that sustainable housing is critical for urban growth and resilience.
The H-DREAM Fund is expected to attract both domestic and international investors, boosting the supply of affordable, eco-friendly homes for low- and middle-income families.
