Leaders Review Phase 2 of Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, and Minister of Transport Jeffrey Siow on 12 August 2025 inspected Phase 2 of PSA’s Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal (BMCT) at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), Uran.
The high-level delegation reviewed the terminal’s preparedness ahead of its formal inauguration, which will substantially expand container handling capacity at India’s busiest container port. Operated by PSA International of Singapore, BMCT is a key component of JNPA’s modernisation strategy aimed at upgrading India’s maritime trade infrastructure and enhancing global connectivity.
Phase 2 will feature advanced cargo-handling equipment, extended berth capacity, and improved vessel turnaround times, strengthening India’s position in global shipping and logistics. The visit underscored deepening India–Singapore collaboration in infrastructure, with both sides confident that the expansion will drive trade growth, create jobs, and contribute to Maharashtra’s economic development.
Officials emphasised BMCT’s strategic role in enhancing India’s trade competitiveness and supporting the country’s export-import ecosystem.
