2025-08-19
The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has approved Rs 9.04 billion for addressing key infrastructure gaps in 29 villages within Amaravati’s greenfield capital area, announced Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana at the 51st CRDA meeting. The funds will be used to upgrade critical facilities including roads, drains, drinking water supply, sewerage systems, and street lighting. A detailed assessment revealed a 30 per cent shortfall in water supply, a total absence of sewerage infrastructure, a 40 per cent deficiency in road development, and a 10 per cent shortfall in street lighting across these villages.
Based on these findings, Rs 640 million is allocated for water supply improvements, Rs 1.11 billion for sewerage, Rs 3.39 billion for roads, and Rs 120 million for street lighting. These allocations also cover maintenance and operational expenses for seven years.
The upgraded village infrastructure will connect seamlessly to Amaravati’s existing 360 km of trunk roads and 1,500 km of layout roads, alongside parallel drains, power, and water lines.
The CRDA will forward these decisions to the cabinet for approvals regarding loans, tenders, and project execution. Additionally, 78 acres in Mangalagiri have been pooled to develop a gems and jewellery park, expected to attract Rs 50 million in investments and create 20,000 jobs. Land allocations were also made for private colleges and a bioengineering university planned within Amaravati.
Minister Narayana stated that Chief Minister Naidu has instructed all capital city construction projects to be executed with urgency to complete them within this season, aiming to shape Amaravati’s development swiftly.
