Ircon Wins Rs 6.42 Bn Mumbai Metro Pink Line Contract

Ircon International Limited has secured a Rs 6.42 billion contract from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for Package CA-233 of Mumbai Metro Line 6, also known as the Pink Line. The 15.18 km elevated corridor stretches from Swami Samarth Nagar (Lokhandwala) to Vikhroli, enhancing east-west connectivity across the city.

The contract, which includes a 3,285-day execution timeline, involves comprehensive works for the metro line’s critical systems. Ircon will handle the design, supply, installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of the power supply, traction systems, electrical and mechanical (E&M) systems, and station lifts and escalators across all 13 elevated stations. Post-completion, the firm will also provide five years of maintenance, following a two-year defect liability period.

The tender process saw participation from four firms by February 13, 2025. One bidder was disqualified during the technical evaluation. Financial bids were opened the same day, with results finalized on August 12, where Ircon emerged as the lowest bidder at Rs 6.42 billion. Competing bids included Rs 8.40 billion from Larsen & Toubro Limited and Rs 10.80 billion from Rail Vikas Nigam.

This award marks a major milestone in the execution of Mumbai’s Pink Line, which will significantly reduce travel time across key suburbs and improve urban mobility.

In a related development, Paras Railtech has received a Letter of Acceptance for the CA-273 ballastless track contract for Mumbai Metro Line 2B (Yellow Line), further pushing forward the city’s metro expansion efforts
