GMDA to Prepare Fresh DPR for Naurangpur Sewage Treatment Plant

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will prepare a fresh detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed 40 million litres per day (MLD) sewage treatment plant (STP) at Naurangpur. The move comes after it was found that a high-tension power line and a 24-metre-wide road pass through the site allocated for the project, requiring a revised plan.

According to officials, the original 3.65-acre land parcel transferred from the Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) was reduced to 2.89 acres following the road development. The presence of the power line further divided the land into three parts, making the earlier design unfeasible.

A GMDA official said a consultant has been appointed to prepare the revised DPR, which is expected to take around three months. The project, initially estimated at Rs 750 million, is likely to see changes in cost following the new plan.

The planned STP will cater to sewage generated in residential sectors 77 to 80 and nearby villages. Treated water will be supplied for horticulture, the NSG green area, and discharged into stormwater drains leading to the Najafgarh drain. Efforts will be made to maximise reuse of recycled water.

GMDA acquired the land from MCM at a cost of around Rs 30.41 million per acre. Construction of the plant is expected to take about two years once work is allotted.

In addition to this project, GMDA is also working to enhance its sewage treatment capacity by adding 100 MLD at the Dhanwapur and Behrampur sewage plants.
