City Lifts India Marks 40 Years of Vertical Mobility Leadership

City Lifts India, a leading Indian manufacturer of elevators, escalators, auto walks and parking solutions, has celebrated its 40th Foundation Day, announcing a new growth roadmap and advocacy campaign #LiftingTheCities.

Founded in 1985 by late entrepreneur V. Rajagopalan, the company has grown into a trusted name with a pan-India presence, known for innovation, reliability, and customer-centric solutions in vertical and horizontal mobility.

Navin Rajagopalan, Director, said: “Reaching our 40th Foundation Day is a proud and humbling moment, as we are successfully taking our Founder’s vision ahead. For four decades, City Lifts India has remained steadfast in delivering safe, reliable, and technologically advanced vertical mobility solutions. This achievement reflects not just our organisational strength, but the sheer mission, dedication, and trust of our entire team, partners, and customers. As we look ahead to the next phase, we remain committed to expanding our footprint across geographies and micro-markets of India, enriching customer experiences through innovation, and fostering an environment of safety, quality, and shared success.”

Four decades of milestones include:

  •  Technology leadership: Gearless traction, MRL lifts and intelligent dispatch systems.
  •  Safety focus: Advanced rider safeguards, backup systems and employee training.
  •  Quality assurance: Rigorous controls from procurement to installation.
  •  Strategic alliances: Partnerships with KOYO, Nidec and Samjung Tech.
  •  Growth strategy: Expansion into Tier II & III cities, AI/IoT-driven maintenance, enhanced after-sales services and workforce training.

Looking ahead, City Lifts plans to scale up its escalator and elevator portfolios with IoT-enabled systems, and target large infrastructure projects including metro stations and airports. Already a trusted partner for developers, the company is also expanding its developer sales network.

Rajagopalan added: “We are scaling new heights—expanding geographic reach, elevating customer support, embracing cutting-edge technologies and deepening workforce development. The company’s steadfast dedication to excellence positions it well to remain a leader in India’s vertical mobility industry.”
