Vedanta Aluminium Targets Global 1 Mn Tonne Billet Producers’ Club

Vedanta Aluminium has announced its plan to emerge as one of the world’s top billet producers by expanding its billet casting capacity from 580 KTPA to 1.25 MTPA. This will position the company in the global 1 million tonne billet producers’ club, while consolidating its leadership in India, where it already holds over 50 per cent of the domestic billet market.

The company operates two large-scale smelters—1.8 MTPA at Jharsuguda, Odisha, and 0.57 MTPA at BALCO, Chhattisgarh. Currently ranked first in India and third globally in billet production, Vedanta Aluminium supplies billets for a wide range of applications, from automobiles and railways to new-age sectors such as electric vehicles and renewable energy.

Rajiv Kumar, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium, said, “Our journey towards the 1 million tonne billet producers’ club is not just about scale, but also about creating value, advancing technology, and driving sustainable industrial development. With customer-first initiatives, global certifications, and low-carbon product lines, we are strengthening our position as a trusted partner for manufacturers worldwide.”

Vedanta Aluminium offers billets across the 1xxx, 3xxx, and 6xxx series in more than 25 variants, ranging from 5 to 12 inches in diameter. The company also provides low-carbon options through its Restora and Restora Ultra brands, produced using renewable energy and recovered dross.

The company is further innovating with Vedanta Metal Bazaar, the world’s largest digital marketplace for non-ferrous metals, offering MSMEs transparent, hassle-free access to premium products with tools like AI-powered chatbots, live tracking, and embedded financing.

Showcasing its next-generation billet portfolio at ALUMEX India 2025, Vedanta Aluminium is leveraging advanced casting and homogenising technologies to deliver superior performance, supporting the national vision of Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
