Sahara Seeks SC Nod to Sell Assets Worth Rs 240 Bn to Adani

Sahara Group has moved the Supreme Court seeking approval to sell 88 prime properties to Adani Properties Pvt Ltd. The assets include Aamby Valley City (8,810 acres), Sahara City Lucknow (170 acres), and plots in Mumbai, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Bikaner, Vadodara, Jamnagar and Solapur.

The deal follows a term sheet signed on 6 September 2025 and aims to raise funds for the SEBI-Sahara Refund Account. Sahara has so far deposited Rs 16,000 crore out of Rs 24,030 crore due to investors.

The petition, filed through advocate Gautam Awasthi, states the family decided to sell assets after Subrata Roy’s death in 2023. With no active management, Sahara wants to liquidate quickly at fair market value to protect investor interests. The case is listed for hearing on 14 October.
