DS Group Certified Water Positive, Sets Sustainability Benchmark
2025-10-09
Dharampal Satyapal Group (DS Group), a leading FMCG conglomerate, has been certified Water Positive by GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment), a joint initiative of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, and TERI. With a Water Positivity Index of 1.80, DS Group joins a select group of Indian corporates achieving such a high score, following a rigorous 2.5-year assessment across 30 business locations.
The certification recognises the Group’s integrated water management initiatives, which created a storage potential of 66 lakh KL, combining community-focused CSR interventions with operational efficiencies. DS Group’s business units—including Mouth Freshener, Food & Beverage, Hospitality, and Agriculture—have implemented measures such as rainwater harvesting, wastewater reuse, recharge wells, water-efficient fixtures, and ecological restoration projects. These initiatives reduce freshwater dependency while strengthening water security in surrounding communities.
Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman, DS Group, said, “Water stewardship is a global priority, with demand projected to exceed supply by 40 per cent by 2030. By embedding water-positive practices across our operations and community initiatives, DS Group contributes meaningfully to a water-secure future, demonstrating how businesses can lead in sustainability.”
Sanjay Seth, VP and CEO of GRIHA Council, added, “DS Group’s Water Positive certification sets a benchmark for corporate leadership in responsible resource management. Such efforts show that sustainability, productivity, and profitability can go hand in hand, advancing resilient and responsible industrial practices.”
DS Group’s water-positive journey reflects a collective effort—employees drive conservation projects, suppliers adopt water-efficient practices, and customers are encouraged to consume responsibly. The certification complements DS Group’s broader sustainability initiatives across water, agriculture, energy efficiency, and community development, reinforcing its commitment to long-term environmental balance.
