Vaishnaw Evaluates High-Speed Rail Project in Ahmedabad

Union Minister for Railways, Communications, and Electronics & IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, recently reviewed the ongoing works of the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project in Ahmedabad. During the visit, he inspected construction progress at the Sabarmati and Ahmedabad stations, as well as critical infrastructure components under execution. The Minister assessed the pace of civil works, bridge construction, and viaduct alignment, emphasising timely completion of each segment. He also interacted with project officials and engineers to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.

The MAHSR project, being implemented by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), is India’s first bullet train initiative supported by Japanese technology and funding. Once operational, it will connect Mumbai and Ahmedabad over a distance of 508 km, significantly reducing travel time between the two cities.

Vaishnaw’s visit underscores the government’s focus on accelerating India’s high-speed rail ambitions, ensuring world-class infrastructure aligned with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.
