Railways Unloads Two Freight Rakes Simultaneously in Jammu

Indian Railways achieved a new operational milestone with the simultaneous unloading of two freight rakes at Jammu Yard, a first-of-its-kind event in the region. The operation marks a significant advancement in the Railways’ efforts to improve freight handling capacity and turnaround efficiency.

According to officials, two goods trains carrying cement and coal were unloaded concurrently at separate lines within the yard. The achievement was made possible through coordinated planning between the Northern Railway and the local goods operations team, supported by upgraded track and signalling infrastructure.

The initiative is expected to reduce dwell time and enhance the handling efficiency of freight trains, particularly in high-traffic corridors. Officials added that the success demonstrates Indian Railways’ growing capability to manage complex logistical operations, aligning with its broader goal to boost freight loading and improve supply chain reliability across the country.
