KMEW to launch River Pearl Cruise linking Statue of Unity & Omkareshwar

Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Limited (KMEW) has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) to build and operate a luxury cruise between Kukshi in Madhya Pradesh and the Statue of Unity in Gujarat along the Narmada River. The 20-year project covers a 135-km stretch and marks KMEW’s official entry into India’s maritime tourism sector.

The LoA was formally presented at the Madhya Pradesh Travel Mart 2025 by Hon’ble Union Minister of Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, and Minister of State for Tourism Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi.

The River Pearl Cruise, a 70-metre twin-hull luxury catamaran, is scheduled to launch within 21 months, following the signing of a detailed agreement with MPTB. It will connect two national landmarks—the Statue of Oneness at Omkareshwar and the Statue of Unity—through a three-day voyage offering world-class hospitality, fine dining, and cultural experiences.

The route will showcase cultural workshops, temple visits, nature trails, kayaking, and eco-tourism activities, creating a blend of spiritual exploration and leisure. Designed for sustainability, the vessel will include 36 deluxe cabins, fine dining lounges, an infinity pool, a wellness centre, and hybrid propulsion with zero-discharge waste management systems.

Commenting on the development, Sujay Kewalramani, CEO, KMEW, said, “We are thrilled to embark on this journey into cruise tourism. This segment offers immense growth potential, with an estimated Rs 8,000 million in revenue over 20 years.”

The project, conceptualised under the MP Tourism Policy 2025, aims to promote eco-friendly tourism, generate local employment, and enhance connectivity along the Narmada riverfront. KMEW plans to introduce both luxury and budget cruise options, catering to domestic and international travellers seeking immersive experiences.
