PM GatiShakti Reviews Major Road, Rail and Metro Plans

According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the projects were assessed for alignment with PM GatiShakti’s principles of integrated multimodal connectivity, last-mile linkage to economic and social hubs, and the ‘Whole of Government’ approach. These initiatives aim to improve logistics efficiency, reduce travel time, and generate significant socio-economic benefits.
The Railways Ministry has proposed the construction of a 65-kilometre quadruple railway line between Hosapete and Ballari in Karnataka. Situated in a mineral- and industry-rich zone, the project seeks to ease congestion, expand freight capacity, and strengthen regional trade activity. Additionally, the Ministry plans to double the 230.5-kilometre Gondia–Jabalpur railway line spanning Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. This upgrade will decongest the existing single-line corridor and enhance both passenger and freight movement.
Under MoRTH, the Mahwa–Mandawar section of National Highway 921 in Rajasthan will be widened and upgraded over a 50-kilometre stretch to support rising traffic demand and future freight requirements. The Ministry has also proposed a six-lane elevated corridor with an additional six lanes at grade and dedicated service roads between Anisabad and Deedarganj in Bihar, covering 13.37 kilometres.
Meanwhile, MoHUA has proposed Jaipur Metro Phase II, a 42.8-kilometre North–South corridor connecting Prahladpura and Todi Mod. The corridor will include 36 stations across major points such as Haldi Ghati Gate, Sitapura Industrial Area, SMS Hospital, and Ambabari, improving accessibility and easing urban mobility in the city.
