Railways Leads Clean India Drive with 29,921 Campaigns Under Mission

The Ministry of Railways has achieved major milestones under the ongoing Special Campaign 5.0 aimed at institutionalising cleanliness and efficiency across government offices. Midway through the campaign, running from 2 to 31 October 2025, Railways has conducted 29,921 cleanliness drives across stations, offices, and other premises.

The initiative has generated Rs 2.35 billion from scrap disposal and freed around 1,45,000 sq. ft. of office space, promoting better infrastructure use. Railways has creatively transformed waste into wealth by crafting attractive models from scrap, while ensuring separate handling of e-waste.

In terms of administrative reforms, over 50,000 files have been reviewed, leading to the closure or weeding out of 20,277 files. The ministry has also addressed 1,37,000 public grievances, reinforcing its commitment to timely and citizen-centric governance.

To enhance passenger engagement, more than 400 ‘Amrit Samvad’ interactions have been held at railway stations, fostering direct dialogue with the public. The achievements underscore the dedication of railway personnel and mark a strong mid-point performance under Special Campaign 5.0.
