Tarun Kumar Pithode Appointed Member Secretary of CAQM

Shri Tarun Kumar Pithode, a 2009-batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has taken charge as the new full-time Member Secretary of the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM).

Previously serving as Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Shri Pithode will now oversee key initiatives aimed at improving air quality across the National Capital Region. His appointment is for a five-year tenure, lasting until 8 September 2029, or until further orders.

He succeeds Shri Arvind Kumar Nautiyal, IRSME (1992), in this pivotal position. The CAQM, established to coordinate and monitor air quality measures across multiple states in NCR, plays a crucial role in implementing pollution control policies, regulatory actions, and sustainable environmental governance.
