Supreme Court Seeks Maharashtra’s Response on Pune Road Project

The Supreme Court has sought a response from the Maharashtra government on a petition concerning a major road project in Pune. The plea alleges irregularities in land acquisition and questions the adequacy of environmental clearances granted for the project.

A bench led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud issued notices to the state government and other concerned authorities, directing them to file their replies. The petitioner argued that the project could impact local ecosystems and affect residents’ rights.

The court has listed the matter for further hearing after receiving the state’s response. The project, aimed at improving connectivity within Pune, remains under scrutiny pending judicial review.
