Otis India Powers Vertical Mobility on High-Speed Rail Corridor
2025-10-30
Otis India is contributing to the country’s first high-speed rail corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad by supplying advanced vertical transportation systems. The company has secured new orders, bringing its total deployment on the project to 55 elevators and escalators across six stations and one depot. Otis India is a subsidiary of Otis Worldwide Corporation (NYSE: OTIS), the global leader in elevator and escalator manufacturing, installation and service.
The 508 km corridor will adopt Japan’s Shinkansen bullet train technology, cutting travel time to just over two hours, with top speeds of up to 320 km/hr.
Mr Sebi Joseph, President, Otis India, said: “Otis is already powering India’s ambition and progress in infrastructure growth at metro stations, airports and commercial hubs. Now we are honoured to be playing a key role in high-speed rail and the advancement of India’s transportation systems. With Otis innovation, modern and reliable products, and our relentless commitment to passenger safety, we aim to make every step of the passenger’s journey safe, smooth and seamless.”
The company will install its Gen2® Stream elevators featuring machine room-less, gearless technology and energy-efficient Otis ReGen™ drives, along with heavy-duty Otis 520 NPE escalators designed for bi-directional travel and high endurance. The corridor is the first in India’s proposed high-speed rail network connecting multiple cities.
