Godrej & Boyce Wins E&M Contract for Kochi Metro Phase 2

Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company, the flagship company of the Godrej Group, has received the Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from Kochi Metro Rail (KMRL) for executing the Electrical and Mechanical (E&M) works of Kochi Metro Phase 2.

Phase 2 of the Kochi Metro — known as the Pink Line — spans 11.2 km from JLN Stadium to Infopark II, encompassing 11 stations. This extension aims to enhance connectivity between central Kochi and its rapidly developing IT and residential zones.

Under the newly awarded contract, Godrej & Boyce will execute Electrical, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (VAC) and Fire Protection works for 10 elevated stations, property development (PD) areas, and the associated viaduct of Phase 2, excluding the JLN Stadium station.

Recently, KMRL also declared Godrej & Boyce as the lowest bidder for the architectural finishing works of Phase 2, which include blockwork, plumbing, and interior finishing across five elevated stations — Palarivattom Junction, Alinchuvadu, Chembumukku, Vazhakkala, and Padamughal.

Currently, Phase 1 (Blue Line) of Kochi Metro is fully operational, spanning 27.96 km from Aluva to Tripunithura. Construction of the first phase began in 2013, with subsequent extensions under Phase 1A and 1B adding three new elevated stations.

The twin contract wins further strengthen Godrej & Boyce’s presence in the nation’s metro infrastructure sector, reinforcing its capability in delivering complex, high-value engineering solutions for urban transit systems.
