Manaksia To Set Up Rs 420 Million Solar Project In Gujarat

Manaksia Coated Metals & Industries Limited, a leading coated steel manufacturer and exporter, has announced plans to set up a 7 MWp DC ground-mounted solar power project under the Open Access mechanism in Gujarat. The initiative follows an agreement with Prozeal Green Energy Limited, one of India’s leading renewable energy EPC and IPP companies.

The Rs 420 million project will be executed by Prozeal Green Energy and is scheduled for commissioning in the first quarter of FY27. It will use Mono Bifacial N-Type TOPCon modules paired with a Single Axis Tracker system—technologies designed to maximise energy yield by aligning solar panels with the sun’s movement and absorbing sunlight from both sides.

The solar installation aims to offset 50 to 55 per cent of Manaksia’s grid power dependency and reduce electricity costs by up to 50 per cent. Once operational, it is expected to generate about 13.3 million units of renewable electricity annually and offset around 9,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year—equivalent to planting over 400,000 trees.

According to the company, the project will play a crucial role in achieving energy self-reliance, improving operational sustainability, and enhancing its ESG profile. By replacing grid-based power with renewable energy, Manaksia aims to lower its carbon footprint, strengthen cost efficiency, and ensure long-term energy security.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr Karan Agrawal, Whole-Time Director of Manaksia Coated Metals & Industries Limited, said, “This solar initiative demonstrates our commitment to responsible growth and environmental stewardship. Partnering with Prozeal Green Energy ensures top-tier project execution and aligns with our long-term vision for sustainable operations. The plant will help replace up to 55 per cent of our current power requirement with renewable energy, yielding significant cost savings and reducing embedded carbon per tonne of production.”

Agrawal added that the advanced bifacial and tracking technologies will enable consistent generation and better reliability, even in lower light conditions. “Energy is central to our operations, and this step strengthens our energy independence, cost control, and flexibility while supporting the Government of India’s renewable energy vision,” he said.

Mr Manan Thakkar, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Prozeal Green Energy Limited, stated, “We are proud to support Manaksia Coated Metals in its renewable transition. This collaboration highlights how industrial consumers can leverage the Open Access model to achieve sustainability alongside economic efficiency.”

This solar project marks a key milestone in Manaksia’s long-term sustainability roadmap and reflects both organisations’ shared commitment to advancing India’s clean energy transition and supporting the nation’s Net Zero 2070 goal.
