GSV, DRDO Partner To Develop New Defence Tech Solutions

Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in New Delhi on 17 November 2025 in the presence of Dr Samir V. Kamat, Chairman of DRDO and Secretary of Defence R&D. The partnership aims to develop smart technological solutions to enhance national security.

Dr Kamat stated that the collaboration is expected to support the development of technological solutions for the deployment aspects of indigenous defence systems.

Under the MoU, both organisations will undertake joint studies and research in areas such as logistics management, operational logistics at tactical, operational and strategic levels, chip design and hardware security, and homomorphic or blockchain-based encryption. The collaboration aims to strengthen capabilities in operational and military science, logistics management and technical research.

GSV and DRDO will jointly conduct research programmes, seminars, conferences, capacity-building initiatives and round-table workshops. The MoU was signed by Prof Manoj Choudhary, Vice-Chancellor of GSV, and Dr Lal Chand Mangal, DS & DG (TM).

GSV already collaborates with the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy on logistics and supply-chain research and education. The new partnership with DRDO strengthens its value proposition by enabling cutting-edge research aligned with national defence priorities.

Established in 2022 as a Central University under the Ministry of Railways, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya is India’s first specialised university in the transportation and logistics sector. Its mandate spans railways, highways, aviation, ports, maritime, inland waterways, urban transport and national supply-chain networks. The university is chaired by Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology, in his capacity as Chancellor.
