TEC, IIIT Delhi Ink Pact for Next-Gen Telecom Research

The Telecommunication Engineering Centre has formalised a collaboration with the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi to jointly advance research, standardisation and India-specific frameworks for next-generation telecom technologies. The agreement establishes a structured platform to strengthen indigenous capability across emerging domains including AI-enabled networks, 5G, 6G, optical communication and SDN–NFV systems.

Strengthening India’s Standards Ecosystem

Under the partnership, both organisations will pursue joint studies, develop test frameworks and contribute to global standardisation bodies. The effort is targeted at enhancing India’s role in international groups such as ITU and 3GPP, while building domestic expertise in areas such as mmWave, mMIMO, heterogeneous networks and high-speed wireless backhaul.

Focus on Energy-Efficient Infrastructure

A key element of the collaboration is research into ICT-driven improvements in the energy efficiency of telecom equipment and infrastructure, supporting national objectives for sustainable communication networks.

Supporting Atmanirbhar Bharat

By accelerating indigenous R&D and enabling home-grown standards, the partnership is positioned to reduce import dependence, strengthen secure communication systems and support India’s commitment to advanced, self-reliant telecom manufacturing.
