Mumbai Metro Trials Smart Lockers for Seamless Commuter Use

Mumbai Metro has begun piloting smart lockers at select stations to offer commuters a secure and convenient storage option during travel. The system, developed in partnership with AutoPe, allows passengers to book, unlock and manage lockers through a mobile application without staff intervention.

The pilot has been launched at Ghatkopar and Andheri stations, with the network likely to expand the facility based on commuter response. The lockers are equipped with digital authentication, tamper alerts and timed access to ensure security and efficient use.

Metro officials noted that the service is aimed at improving commuter convenience, particularly for passengers who require temporary storage for personal or work-related items. The initiative aligns with Mumbai Metro’s ongoing push to introduce tech-enabled passenger services across its corridors.
