Hindustan Zinc Secures BIS Nod for Zinc Alloy, Marks Quality Month

Hindustan Zinc Limited, the country’s only and the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, has recently strengthened its quality portfolio with BIS certification for its ‘Zinc base alloy ingots for Die Casting, Grade Zn Al 4. The approval enhances the product’s credibility, regulatory assurance and customer confidence in both domestic and export markets.
The company marked World Quality Month under the theme ‘Think Differently’, highlighting its focus on innovation, data-led governance and continuous improvement. A key initiative is the introduction of the Agile Quality Circle, a flexible model that replaces the traditional multi-step framework. The approach enables teams to select the most effective quality tools for each challenge, deepening ownership, accelerating decisions and fostering diverse, practical problem-solving.
These efforts are supported by a fully digital Laboratory Information Management System, which provides end-to-end transparency, traceability and data accuracy across the organisation’s quality workflows. The Agile Quality Circle aligns with Hindustan Zinc’s broader quality ecosystem built on seven pillars, including supplier quality, customer management, skill development and integrated quality management.
CEO Arun Misra said the company’s quality philosophy is anchored in curiosity, innovation and continuous improvement, with the BIS approval reinforcing the strength of its systems.
Hindustan Zinc continues to maintain global benchmarks in responsible sourcing, reliability and sustainability. Its products are registered with the London Metal Exchange and the London Bullion Market Association, and supported by REACH certification for the EU market and EPD International verification for its extensive zinc portfolio. With brands such as EcoZen, the company is advancing low-carbon metals and strengthening its leadership in quality, innovation and sustainable operations.
