With India focussing on mega infrastructure projects, how do you see the demand evolving for large vs mid-sized equipment?
India is entering an era of unprecedented infrastructure development — from expressways and metro networks to renewable energy corridors and industrial clusters. As project scales grow, we are seeing a clear rise in demand for large and high-capacity equipment that can deliver faster output, higher productivity, and lower cost per cubic metre. This segment will continue to expand as contractors push to meet tighter timelines and productivity benchmarks.
At the same time, mid-sized machines will remain extremely relevant. India’s construction landscape is diverse, and a significant volume of projects — including rural roads, irrigation works, urban development, and general construction — require equipment that is versatile, fuel-efficient, and suitable for varied terrain and space-constrained sites.
In our view, the future is not “large versus mid-sized” — it is “large and mid-sized.” Growth will come from both segments, and customers will increasingly build mixed fleets that balance power, precision, and mobility. At JCB, we are preparing for exactly this demand curve by expanding our portfolio across the spectrum — from India’s largest excavator to highly versatile backhoe loaders and compact excavators — ensuring that we remain the partner of choice for every scale of infrastructure delivery.
How are your machines addressing the demand for efficiency, safety and sustainability in India’s infrastructure growth?
In today’s construction industry, total cost of ownership is a decisive factor in every purchase decision. Our CEV Stage 5 range has been engineered precisely for this reality. With smart fuel-optimisation systems and an advanced high-performance engine, these machines deliver 10 to 15 per cent higher fuel efficiency while significantly reducing operating and maintenance costs. For our customers, this means a smarter investment — one that strengthens profitability today and future-proofs their business in a world rapidly shifting toward sustainability.
Reliability is a non-negotiable expectation, and we have validated this range through one of the most rigorous testing programmes in the industry. Our machines have undergone more than 2,00,000 hours of real-world trials and over 70,000 hours of development and endurance testing, proving their performance from altitudes of 4,500 m to some of the toughest terrains and applications across India and beyond. The result is equipment that customers can trust to deliver — day after day, job after job, in the harshest environments.
Above all, safety remains central to our design philosophy. The new range is built to elevate operator protection and comfort, featuring high-strength cabins compliant with ROPS and ROFS safety standards as per Government regulations. Enhanced ergonomics, lower noise levels and simplified engine regeneration processes ensure operators not only work safely, but work comfortably — ultimately enabling a safer, more efficient and more productive worksite.
How is the company addressing after-sales service and spare parts availability in remote project sites?
We have one of the widest sales and service dealer network in the industry – over 700 touchpoints and over 6,000 service engineers. This footprint ensures that even in far-flung project sites – whether it’s a highway stretch in Arunachal, a mine in Odisha or an irrigation project in rural Rajasthan – a trained JCB technician is never more than a few hours away.
At JCB, we have embedded advanced technology into every machine we build. Our latest generation of telematics — JCB LiveLink, now standard across all new equipment — gives real-time intelligence on machine health, location, fuel efficiency and service requirements. A potential component issue is flagged even before it is experienced, ensuring that our service engineers arrive proactively with the right part and the right tools, eliminating downtime.
Complementing this is our JCB Parts Online Portal, which provides contractors and fleet owners seamless access to genuine parts — with transparent pricing, live availability and the convenience of placing orders round the clock. Together, these digital innovations reinforce our commitment to keeping our customers productive, supported and always ahead.
For us, a sale is just the beginning of a relationship. Keeping it productive in the toughest, most remote conditions is how we earn trust every single day.
