India’s MRO Market Set For USD 4 Billion Boost

Speaking at the inauguration of Safran’s new MRO facility in the city, the minister said India is set to emerge as a preferred global destination for aircraft maintenance. The Safran Aircraft Engine Services India (SAESI) facility, scheduled to become operational in 2026, will strengthen the country’s domestic capability in the rapidly expanding aviation sector.

Naidu added that conducting MRO activities within the country could save up to USD 15 billion in foreign exchange over the coming years. The reduction in maintenance costs for airlines is expected to translate into more affordable fares for passengers.

India remains one of the fastest-growing civil aviation markets, with domestic airlines collectively holding orders for more than 1,500 aircraft.

Reiterating India’s ambition to become a global aviation hub, the minister noted that the country’s MRO market is projected to achieve USD 4 billion in value by 2031, supported by an estimated annual growth rate of 8.9 per cent.
