Ingersoll Rand India Promotes Energy-Efficient Air Technologies
Ingersoll Rand India has highlighted how advanced air technologies can help industries reduce electricity costs, lower carbon emissions and accelerate sustainable manufacturing across the country. With rising energy expenditure in factories, the company is emphasising compressed air efficiency as an immediate opportunity for power savings.
“Air compressors account for nearly 10–30 per cent of a plant’s total electricity consumption,” said Vedamurthy Mallikarjunaswamy, Product Management Leader, Ingersoll Rand India. “By improving compressed air efficiency, industries can reduce their energy bills by 10–15%, a significant and immediate opportunity not many organisations fully tap into.” Efficiency gains can translate into annual savings of 150,000 kWh, Rs 1.0–1.2 million in cost reduction and nearly 120 tonnes of CO₂ emissions avoided.
Ingersoll Rand’s solutions integrate IE5 permanent magnet motors, Variable Speed Drives, intelligent controls and optimised airflow designs to reduce energy consumption by up to 30 per cent compared to conventional systems while improving reliability and uptime. Its heat recovery systems can capture up to 94 per cent of compression heat for reuse in boilers, process water heating or space heating to reduce additional fuel demand.
The company is also enhancing industrial digitalisation through monitoring platforms such as Ecoplant AI that optimise compressor load, prevent excess power usage and provide carbon insights for sustainability reporting. For sectors requiring high air purity, including pharmaceuticals, food and electronics, the company’s ISO 8573-1 Class 0 oil-free technologies eliminate the risk of oil contamination and support greener operations.
Ingersoll Rand ranks among the top 1 per cent globally for sustainability performance and has targeted a 60 per cent reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030 and net-zero operations by 2050. “Ingersoll Rand is committed to helping Indian manufacturers adopt technologies that make their operations more energy-efficient, cost-effective and sustainable,” added Vedamurthy.
