Foundation Laid for Rs 500 Mn Four-lane Road Project in Nalgonda

Roads & Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy inaugurated a major infrastructure initiative in Nalgonda by laying the foundation stone for a Rs 500 million four-lane road project within the town’s municipal limits. The project aims to enhance mobility and ease congestion along a key stretch of the Mahbubnagar–Nalgonda corridor.

The new four-lane road will run from the Nagarjunasagar ‘X’ Roads to the Darveshipuram Yellamma Temple, featuring a central median and integrated central lighting to improve road safety and night-time visibility. According to the minister, construction on the Sagar ‘X’ Roads to Darveshipuram segment will begin within the next week. He emphasised that the project has been prioritised in view of rising traffic volumes and increasing accidents along this route.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy highlighted that Darveshipuram has long been identified as an accident-prone zone. To address safety concerns, the government has already built a cement concrete (CC) road, central lighting, and a central median in the area at a cost of Rs 120 million. The upcoming four-lane expansion is expected to further streamline travel and provide a safer, more efficient route for commuters and local residents.

Officials noted that the project forms part of the broader efforts to upgrade key stretches across Telangana to support economic activity and improve connectivity to major towns. Residents of Nalgonda and nearby localities are expected to benefit from reduced travel time and improved traffic management once the new road becomes operational.

The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure development across the district, ensuring that essential road networks keep pace with population growth and urban expansion.
