India, Russia Launch Tracked Postal Service For E-Commerce
Russia continues to develop as a key market for Indian goods such as health and wellness products, apparel, jewellery, home décor and other MSME-driven sectors. With Russia Post offering preferential delivery rates under the agreement, India Post will be able to provide exporters with competitive tariffs, improving price competitiveness and market access for Indian sellers.
To further support small businesses entering global markets, the Department of Posts, in partnership with CBIC, has established 1,013 Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras across India. A large share of postal exports originates from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, reflecting the growing contribution of small enterprises and individual entrepreneurs to international trade.
The launch of ITPS with Russia is expected to particularly benefit MSMEs, artisans, start-ups and rural entrepreneurs, enabling them to sell their products on Russian e-marketplaces with competitive logistics costs and dependable delivery timelines.
The agreement reflects the shared commitment of India and Russia to deepening bilateral trade, expanding digital commerce and strengthening cooperation in postal and logistics services.
