L&T Secures Major EPC Orders From SAIL And Metal Clients

L&T and SAIL share a long-standing partnership spanning several decades, built on the successful execution of large metallurgical projects across the country. This collaboration continues to support innovation, capacity expansion and sustainable development within India’s steel manufacturing ecosystem.

As part of its modernisation and expansion programme, SAIL plans to raise crude steel capacity at the IISCO Steel Plant from 2.5 million tonnes per annum to 6.5 million tonnes per annum. Under this expansion, L&T’s M&M business has been awarded the complete engineering, procurement and installation scope for key process units, including the Coke Oven Battery, By-Product Plant and Basic Oxygen Furnace, along with a specialised material-handling equipment package forming the core of the new steel complex.

In parallel, SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant is undertaking a major upstream expansion. L&T has secured an order to set up Sinter Plant No. 2 at the facility, further strengthening its footprint in the steel sector.

Beyond SAIL projects, the M&M business has also won multiple orders for specialised material-handling systems such as stacker reclaimers and wagon tipplers from clients across India, highlighting its capability to deliver advanced, reliable solutions across the minerals and metals value chain.
