Green Power International Wins 384 TKM Rail Electrification Deal

Green Power International has secured a 384 track kilometre (TKM) overhead electrification contract from South-Eastern Railway for the Adra Division, further strengthening its presence in India’s railway electrification segment. The project involves upgrading the existing electric traction system from 1x25 kV to 2x25 kV on key routes within the division.

Under the contract, Green Power International will undertake the design, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the upgraded traction system for the Asansol–Adra–Bhojudih–Dhanbad section. The scope of work will be executed in accordance with the standard guidelines and technical specifications issued by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) and the Central Organisation for Railway Electrification (CORE).

The upgradation is aimed at enhancing line capacity and operational efficiency to support projected freight traffic of up to 3,000 metric tonnes in the region, while also enabling train speeds of up to 160 kmph. The contract was awarded to Green Power International based on its extensive experience in delivering complex, end-to-end electrification solutions and its ability to integrate new systems with existing railway infrastructure while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Commenting on the development, Varun Puri, Managing Director, Green Power International, said, “This new contract with the Adra Division is a testament to our expertise, quality, and commitment to delivering projects on time while adhering to safety standards. We are proud to support Indian Railways in its transition towards sustainable and energy-efficient power systems.”

Green Power International is actively contributing to Indian Railways’ goal of achieving 100% electrification and net-zero carbon emissions by 2030. To date, the company has electrified more than 1,800 TK, commissioned 14 traction substations and delivered 61 switching stations.

The company has previously executed electrification works across multiple railway divisions, including Kota and Ratlam, Malda, and Izzatnagar, and continues to build a strong reputation for reliable and timely project execution in the rail EPC sector.
