NLC India Signs Gujarat MoU for Rs 250 Billion Renewables Push

NLC India Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Gujarat to explore the development of large-scale renewable energy projects across the state. The MoU was signed during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for the Saurashtra and Kutch region held in Rajkot on January 12, 2026.

The non-binding agreement envisages the development of solar, wind, hybrid and battery energy storage projects in Gujarat, with an aggregate investment potential of around Rs 250 billion. The proposed investments are also expected to generate substantial employment opportunities across the region.

The projects will be implemented through NLC India Renewables Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NLC India Limited and its dedicated renewable energy arm. The subsidiary has been set up to drive the company’s green energy growth and sustainability initiatives.

The strategic collaboration aligns with NLC India Limited’s corporate plan to achieve 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and underlines its commitment to sustainable development, energy security and decarbonisation.

Under the terms of the MoU, the Government of Gujarat will facilitate statutory approvals, clearances, registrations and other regulatory support in line with prevailing state policies. This support is intended to enable the time-bound execution of the proposed renewable energy projects.

The partnership is expected to further strengthen Gujarat’s position as one of India’s leading renewable energy hubs while contributing to the country’s national objectives of achieving net zero emissions and increasing the share of non-fossil fuel-based power generation.
