India Urges Kenya Defence Forces To Partner With Indian Firms
Secretary (Defence Production) Sanjeev Kumar has recently urged the Kenya Defence Forces to explore collaborative opportunities with Indian defence companies, while addressing the third India–Kenya Defence Exhibition & Seminar held in Nairobi. He highlighted the depth of India’s defence industrial capabilities and called for closer cooperation built on the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries.
The exhibition and seminar served as a platform for industrial collaboration, co-development and capacity building, with 21 Indian defence companies showcasing specialised products across domains such as shipbuilding, armoured vehicles, UAVs, missile systems, cyber security, weapons, ammunition, optical devices and protection systems. Senior officials from Kenya’s defence establishment participated, underlining the growing momentum in defence engagement.
During his visit, the Secretary (Defence Production) held bilateral meetings with officials from Kenya’s Ministry of Defence to discuss defence industrial partnerships, training, capacity building and long-term cooperation in exports and maintenance support. He also visited Kenya Shipyard in Mombasa and emphasised early implementation of the MoU signed with Goa Shipyard, reinforcing India’s commitment to deepening defence ties with Kenya.
