CDS Unveils Military Quantum Mission Policy Framework

Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan has recently released the Military Quantum Mission Policy Framework, outlining a comprehensive policy and implementation roadmap for integrating quantum technologies into India’s Armed Forces. The framework focuses on four key pillars—quantum communication, quantum computing, quantum sensing and metrology, and quantum materials and devices—to prepare the Tri-Services for future battlefields and technological dominance.
Aligned with the National Quantum Mission, the document defines a coordinated approach to assimilating cutting-edge quantum capabilities through civil–military fusion and dedicated multi-sector governing bodies. It emphasises jointness and integration among the three services to achieve technological supremacy, while setting clear milestones and goals for defence-led adoption of this emerging domain.
