Paradip Port Sets Record With 14.44 MMT Cargo in January

Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has begun 2026 on a strong note by recording its highest-ever cargo handling for the month of January. The Port handled 14.44 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo during the month, surpassing the previous January record of 14.32 MMT achieved in 2024. This milestone reinforces Paradip Port’s standing among India’s leading Major Ports and reflects steady growth in its operational capabilities. The performance is attributed to sustained infrastructure augmentation, streamlined processes and improved coordination across terminals and stakeholders. The consistent rise in cargo volumes also highlights the efficiency and resilience of the Port’s workforce, which has continued to deliver strong operational results amid increasing demand and growing complexities in maritime logistics. P L Haranadh, Chairman, Paradip Port Authority, credited the achievement to the strategic vision of the Hon’ble Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, along with the dedicated efforts of officers, employees, contractual workers and stakeholders associated with the Port. With continued focus on modernisation, capacity enhancement and operational excellence, Paradip Port remains committed to supporting India’s expanding trade and contributing to national economic growth. The record January performance sets a positive tone for the year ahead as the Port progresses towards world-class mega port status.
