NTPC Green Energy Capacity Touches 8,688 MW After Khavda-II CoD

NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) has announced the commercial operation of the first part capacity of 210 MW from its 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project in Gujarat, taking the group’s total installed renewable energy capacity to 8,688.25 MW.

In an exchange filing, the company said the commissioned capacity achieved Commercial Operation Date (CoD) with effect from 00:00 hours on February 1, 2026, in accordance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

The Khavda-II Solar PV Project is being developed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited. Located in Gujarat, the project is part of NTPC’s larger renewable energy expansion strategy, with the full 1,200 MW capacity expected to be commissioned in phases.

Prior to this addition, the NTPC Green Energy Limited Group’s commercial renewable capacity stood at 8,478.25 MW. With the commissioning of the 210 MW first part capacity of Khavda-II, the total installed capacity has now increased to 8,688.25 MW.

The Khavda region has emerged as a key renewable energy hub, hosting large-scale solar and hybrid power projects due to its high solar irradiation and availability of land. NTPC’s continued capacity additions in the region underscore its focus on utility-scale solar development to support India’s clean energy targets.

NTPC Green Energy Limited has been steadily expanding its renewable portfolio across solar, wind and hybrid projects, positioning itself as one of India’s largest renewable energy platforms. The commissioning of the Khavda-II capacity further strengthens the group’s contribution to India’s energy transition and its commitment to scaling non-fossil fuel-based power generation.

The company said further capacity additions from the Khavda-II project are expected in line with the planned execution schedule, reinforcing NTPC’s long-term renewable growth roadmap.
