SECI, DGCA Tie Up to Solarise DGCA Buildings Under PM Scheme

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Ministry of Civil Aviation, to install grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic systems across DGCA buildings nationwide under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.

Under the agreement, SECI will facilitate the deployment of rooftop solar systems on DGCA-owned infrastructure, aiming to promote clean energy adoption within the civil aviation ecosystem and reduce reliance on conventional power sources. The initiative is aligned with the government’s broader objective of expanding renewable energy use across public institutions.

The MoU was signed by Seema Pahuja, Deputy Director, DGCA, and exchanged in the presence of C.L. Gautam, Director (Finance), DGCA, and Manas Ranjan Mishra, Deputy General Manager (Solar), SECI.

SECI said the partnership reflects its expanding role beyond traditional renewable energy deployment, with a growing focus on integrating sustainable energy solutions across diverse government sectors. “This collaboration underscores SECI’s strategic intent to integrate renewable energy solutions across government infrastructure, including civil aviation,” the organisation stated.

The DGCA agreement adds to a series of recent collaborations undertaken by SECI to scale rooftop solar adoption in public buildings. Earlier this month, SECI signed an MoU with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to solarise around 244 municipal buildings across Delhi. Last month, it entered into a Statement of Intent with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) to collaborate on grid strengthening and clean energy integration initiatives.

SECI has also partnered with Indraprastha Power Generation Company (IPGCL) and Pragati Power Corporation (PPCL) to explore solar, energy storage and emerging clean energy projects. In November 2025, it signed an MoU with the Ministry of External Affairs to equip all MEA buildings with rooftop solar systems under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.

Further, SECI has tied up with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to develop 300 MW of solar-based projects across DRDO campuses, and with the Renewable Energy Agency Puducherry to solarise all government buildings in the Union Territory, reinforcing its central role in India’s clean energy transition.
