Western Air Command Hosts All Domain Joint Operations Conclave
Headquarters Western Air Command (WAC) hosted a Joint Operations Conclave on fifth and sixth February 2026 under the All Domain Joint Operations (ADJO) Exercise 2026 framework to deepen intra-service and inter-service interactions at the operational level. The meeting included senior officers from the Integrated Defence Staff (IDS), the Indian Army, the Indian Navy, the Defence Space Agency (DSA), the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) and the Indian Air Force (IAF).
Senior leadership stressed the need for jointness and integrated warfighting, calling for an operational approach that integrates air, land, sea, space and cyber domains to enable decisive outcomes in contested and denied environments. Delegates examined measures to improve interoperability, promote domain-agnostic decision-making, strengthen sensor-to-shooter linkages and refine operational procedures.
The Chief of the IDS urged institutionalising joint mechanisms for integrated planning, intelligence sharing and capability prioritisation, and sought coherent inter-service responses together with systematic identification of capability gaps. The discussions emphasised doctrinal evolution and tri-service resource alignment to build unified operational capability and sustain readiness.
The Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of WAC drew lessons from Operation Sindoor and outlined their implications for future warfare, stressing the pivotal role of air power in generating strategic effects and the need to synchronise surface manoeuvre with offensive air operations. He argued for a shift away from legacy attrition-based models and conventional effects-based approaches towards a more agile, adaptive and integrated joint warfighting paradigm.
Participants concluded that ADJO Exercise 2026 is an important milestone for building an interoperable and future-ready joint force capable of prevailing across modern security challenges. The conclave is expected to reinforce convergence across domains, promote coordinated effects-driven responses and reaffirm the armed forces' commitment to jointness, operational synergy and continuous adaptation.
