Power Grid Corporation of India Commissions Ramgarh-Bhadla Three Line

Power Grid Corporation of India (Powergrid) has commissioned the Ramgarh-Bhadla three transmission line, establishing a direct link between the Ramgarh and Bhadla nodes to strengthen regional power transfer. The project was completed as part of ongoing efforts to expand and modernise transmission infrastructure. The new line is expected to enhance the reliability of electricity supply across the connected network. Work included coordination with regional load dispatch centres, testing of protection schemes and adherence to requisite regulatory clearances.

The line is intended to facilitate the evacuation of power from generation centres and to support the integration of renewable energy resources into the grid. Operators anticipate improved stability during peak demand and reduced congestion on adjacent corridors. The commissioning follows a sequence of testing and validation activities to ensure operational readiness. The project is part of a broader investment programme aimed at reducing transmission bottlenecks and enabling more predictable power flows.

Stakeholders said the infrastructure enhancement will provide greater flexibility for system operators when scheduling and dispatching resources. Enhanced transfer capability between the two nodes is expected to lower the risk of outages and to enable more efficient utilisation of existing generation and to permit planned augmentation of renewable connections in adjoining regions. The line will also support long term planning by creating headroom for future capacity additions. Maintenance regimes and monitoring systems have been put in place to sustain performance.

The company noted that such projects are integral to national objectives for grid modernisation and the transition to cleaner energy forms. The commissioning of the Ramgarh-Bhadla three transmission line represents a step towards strengthening the national transmission backbone and supporting energy reliability for consumers. Powergrid will continue to pursue similar initiatives to meet evolving demand patterns. Operational metrics will be measured regularly and shared with relevant authorities to track performance outcomes.
