Amit Shah Inaugurates Rs 11,320 Million Projects In Haridwar

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated and laid foundation stones for public welfare projects worth more than Rs 11,320 million (mn) in Haridwar as the state government completed four years in office. He linked the milestone to nine years of his party’s rule in the state and described the period as a golden phase of development. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Union Minister Ajay Tamta and other dignitaries attended the event.

He said governance reforms had produced tangible outcomes, noting 1,900 youths received jobs as police constables through a transparent recruitment process without recommendation or payment and that an anti-cheating law had aided fairness. He outlined enactment of modern criminal codes intended to replace colonial-era laws and reported that the new codes would be implemented by 2028 to speed judicial processes. He also reported that 162 people from Pakistan and Afghanistan had been granted Indian citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act.

He reviewed allocations and infrastructure progress, stating the Centre provided Rs 1,870,000 million (mn) to the state between 2014 and 2024 compared with Rs 540,000 million (mn) previously. He cited Rs 120,000 million (mn) for the Char Dham Mahamarg Project, Rs 80,000 million (mn) for the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor and Rs 50,000 million (mn) for national highways, and noted approvals for railway projects worth Rs 260,000 million (mn) and electrification of about 303 kilometres of lines. He highlighted increases in per capita income and gross state domestic product as indicators of progress.

He said schemes such as the Kisan Samman Nidhi, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat and Ujjwala and Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana had reached millions and that more than 10,000 illegal encroachments had been removed in the state. He noted Uttarakhand had implemented a Uniform Civil Code at state level and that a high-power committee on demographic changes would begin work soon. He affirmed support for the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls to strengthen democracy and said development and governance reforms would remain priorities.
