ORSL Signs MoU With ITEL Foundation To Accelerate Bio-energy R&D

Organic Recycling Systems Limited (ORSL) has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with the Immersive Technology and Entrepreneurship Labs Foundation (ITEL) of Chennai to accelerate research, development and commercialisation in bio-energy and decarbonisation technologies. The agreement establishes a collaborative framework for joint research and development programmes, consultancy projects, training initiatives and joint funding proposals with national and international agencies. The partnership is intended to enhance capacity building, pilot validation and industry training to support scalable deployment of new technologies.

The MoU provides access to ORSL’s Research and Innovation Centre (RIC) in Navi Mumbai for joint experimentation and pilot validation and envisages collaboration on proposals to agencies such as the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council and the Department of Science and Technology. ORSL has previously received support from the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council, which underpins its ability to advance bio-energy and green chemical solutions from laboratory stages towards commercial readiness. The collaboration is expected to focus on commercialisation pathways, intellectual property development and technology licensing.

ORSL is transitioning its research outcomes to full scale commercial deployment across areas including bio-energy and compressed biogas (CBG), carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) and green chemicals aligned with circular economy principles. The company sees the partnership as a way to build new revenue streams from technology licensing and product verticals while strengthening operation and maintenance service offerings for biogas and waste processing facilities. Emphasis will be placed on translating pilot studies into replicable projects that contribute to long term growth and revenue diversification.

The agreement forms part of ORSL’s wider strategy of building a collaborative ecosystem through partnerships with academic and industry stakeholders, including IIT BHU, IIT Roorkee, SSS-NIBE, IIT Mumbai, IIT Kharagpur and the University of Birmingham. Such collaborations are positioned to bridge academia and industry and speed the scale up of climate technologies by combining technical validation with commercial expertise. The partnership with ITEL is expected to extend training, internships and consultancy support that underpin the company’s innovation led growth trajectory.
