Komaki Opens New EV Battery Plant in Gurugram

Komaki has launched its second lithium battery manufacturing plant in Udyog Vihar, Gurugram, marking a major step in its expansion strategy. Spread across 40,000 sq ft, the facility has been developed with an investment of Rs 30 crore and is positioned as North India’s largest integrated EV battery manufacturing unit.

The new plant has a production capacity of 10,000 LiFePO4 batteries per month, translating into an annual output of 1.2 lakh units. The facility is expected to support Komaki’s growing electric vehicle portfolio while strengthening its domestic manufacturing capabilities.

Komaki has chosen to focus exclusively on LFP and LMFP cell technologies, underlining its emphasis on safety, durability and performance. These battery chemistries offer higher thermal stability, fire-resistant properties, longer life cycles and faster charging, making them suitable for Indian operating conditions.

The company said its advanced battery systems offer a life cycle of up to 2,500 cycles and come with warranty options of three years for LFP cells and five years for LMFP cells. The plant has also been designed with sustainability in mind, with manufacturing processes aimed at reducing material wastage and improving resource efficiency.

Gunjan Malhotra, Co-founder, Komaki Electric Vehicles, said, ‘The inauguration of our second lithium battery plant marks a defining step in Komaki’s journey to build a self-reliant and future-ready EV ecosystem. By focusing on LFP and LMFP technologies, we are prioritising safety, durability, and long-term value for our customers. This facility not only strengthens our manufacturing backbone but also reinforces our commitment to sustainable innovation and indigenous production at scale.’

With this expansion, Komaki is continuing to strengthen its position in the EV market through investments in safer and more efficient battery technologies aligned with India’s clean mobility goals.
